This voucher entitles the bearer to use the voucher code (to be emailed to receipient) as a credit for a Pacer Driver Experience for one at the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway on one of their pre-arranged dates published on www.llanellirailway.co.uk
What the bearer gets:
The South Wales Railcar Group and Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway are delighted to offer you the chance to drive our Class 142 & 143 ‘Pacer’ DMUs no. 142006 or 143607 under full instruction from a qualified Driver Instructor.
142006 was retired from mainline duties in late December 2020 and is the only South Wales based 142 unit to be preserved, whilst 143607 only came out of service in May 2021.
Each experience will include:
A full safety brief to make you comfortable and happy with the structure of the day.
The opportunity to fully prepare the unit for service.
The opportunity to shunt the unit over track not available for passenger use.
Three complete journeys over the LMMR running line.
A personalised Certificate signed by your instructor.
A digital Photo of the participant in the cab of the train provided by email.
A packed lunch for the participant (vegetarian & vegan options available on request). Additional options for family members available (for additional cost).
Each participant can bring up to 5 family members with them. They may sit in the passenger saloon during the three trips over the running line.
1-year membership of the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway and the South Wales DMU Group (worth £25).
All proceeds go towards the upkeep and ongoing development of the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of undertaking the experience (proof of age may be requested on day).
Terms and conditions of booking a Class 142/143 ‘Pacer’ Driver Experience:
The LMMR operates a zero tolerance drugs and alcohol policy – participants must present themselves in a fit and able state to carry out the Driver Experience.
Due to the nature of the activities being undertaken these activities are only available to the able bodied due to the physical requirements of access and egress from the train.
All participants will be under the instruction and supervision of a qualified instructor at all times. All speed restrictions and instructions must be adhered to. Issues identified may result in the experience being ended early.
Please ensure that you arrive promptly for your time slot. Due to time constraints, you will only be allocated the time that is left within your individual slot if you arrive late.
The LMMR reserve the right to cancel or amend these experiences due to circumstances beyond our control such as extreme weather or mechanical failure. You will be offered a replacement date to suit you.
A non-refundable deposit of £50 is required on all bookings within 24 hours of booking (or the slot will be released for others to book).
